Jess Begans, LCSW
Jess Begans was in really awkward group therapy with other depressed teenage girls in the year 2000. Several decades later, she is now a therapist in private practice in Philadelphia, PA.
Jess works with individuals, couples, and other relational formations (polycules, siblings), both virtually and at her Fishtown office in the Threshold queer healing collective. She takes insurance, not only because she is what Nancy McWilliams might call a “moral masochist” but also because she believes in access to affordable, truama-informed therapy for all.
Jess is IFS Level One certified, and works from a relational psychodynamic perspective — meaning all your freaky parts are welcome. She graduated from Smith College School for Social work in 2011. Before private practice, she worked in agencies with kids and their families, and was the clinical director at a rape crisis center. Jess is licensed in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Massachuetts.
